Mabuhay
a documentary film that honors the first big wave of Filipino-Americans who came to the United States in the 1960s and 1970s
"Mabuhay" will showcase classic immigrant lores of love in a time of tumult; of daunting obstacles and abject reject despite model citizenry; and most of all, the importance of family. These stories are this generation's gift to future Fil-Am generations and to this country as a whole, which was born out of such dynamic emigration.
The filmmaking leads are Fil-Am creatives who have heard these stories their whole lives. They have also lived a large portion of these tales, alongside their fathers and mothers, their uncles and aunts, their ninongs and ninangs. Now they want nothing more than to give these histories a life that will endure beyond the passing of this most treasured generation.
